Here’s a link to one of many articles and blog posts across the web about drinking wine while meditating.
Topics like this, I’m sure, stir up various emotions and debates. This forum thread from 2008 is denouncing drinking. http://www.project-meditation.org/community/threads/alcohol-and-meditation-complete-negation-of-benefits.831/
I’m bias because I like wine. The complex taste, the relaxing nature of it. Not getting completely wasted… but sipping on a glass of wine is nice. For me personally.
So, personally, I’m all for ONE glass just before meditating, or, simply doing a mindful one glass sipping meditation. Where you really focus on the complexity of wine, and slowly, mindfully sip it.
Especially if you are someone who has tried meditation before and just can’t do it. Maybe you’re too restless. Or, suffer from high levels of anxiety, PTSD, etc. One glass could help to build your meditation practice.
But, I also think there’s a fine line. If you end up relying on it. In other words, if the only way you can meditate is with wine, then that’s probably not good.
