This is something that works for me to release anxiety and I thought I’d share it with the world. I call it the BNCR method. Breathe, Notice, Challenge, Release. It’s similar to a quick meditation.
Although this first step can actually be the most difficult at times, stop what you’re doing and breathe. Breathe in 2, 3, 4, and out 2, 3, 4.
Notice you are anxious
It may seem counterproductive, but it is not. Notice the anxiety. Sit with it. Say, “hello,” to it.
Challenge your thoughts
Now, think about why you are anxious. Do you really think something bad will happen? Challenge your brain. Bet it that nothing bad will happen. Tell it that it is over reacting.
Take one more deep breath and as you exhale, let it go. Feel the anxiety leaving your body through your mouth and nose. Goodbye, anxiety. You’re cute.
